Local freshwater ski tique. Im the fourth owner 1000 hours, 1981. It looks like salt but I know the boat and its never seen the ocean. Although when not stored inside, it was covered under an open sided shed. Moisture trapped under cover maybe? This thing was rarely used.

Find a boat thats being parted out in the Boat Parts Section.
Buy good used lift rings THEN cut the old ones out and replace them. Check/replace & reglass the plywood doublers too. |

CC is notorious for not using the best materials out there for corrosion resistance. What part is actually rusted and how bad is it? Pictures would be great. I would not go with an OEM part from someone who is parting out a hull. I'd be fabricating or having the part fabricated out of stainless. If it is the bracket that is glassed in, then there will be glass work done. On the aft, I'd also worry about the wood that's glassed in for the anchoring. We have seen some pretty rotten wood in previous threads. Once again, the search feature is a fantastic tool!!

Thats whats weird, I've poked around and the wood is ok. It looks to me that the rust its just from moisture being trapped. The wood is bright showing no water damage. The angle though is so brittle that you can grab chunks of it and break it off. The angle isnt coated in any way and the bolts are rusted out too. Are the bolts glassed in or are they replaceable without much trouble.? Ill try to get in there for some picks. |

Vic,
Yes the bolts are glassed into a wood backer bedded into the glass.
If you take the time, you WILL see pictures!!! |

Well I. Guess the lift eyes will be repaired when stringer replacement is needed. As they will be hell to get to untill the thing is stripped completely down.
