I'm sure somebody has talked about this in the past but couldent find any definite info on it. Can you tell what number and year a trailer is by the id number stamped on the trailer? I'm pretty sure I have a number 3 but wanted to be sure.

Maybe. If its old enough to have a metal ID plate riveted to it, then the model number may be part of the id. I believe my #2 reads 2-xxxx.
The best way to be 100% sure is to post a picture. That along with a few basic dimensions will allow us to tell you which youve got. |

Ahh, I forgot you were Morfoot's neighbor. I remember seeing that boat when you were considering buying it.
That is a '84-87 #3 delux trailer ('88 was the same but had surge brakes as standard equipment). Its meant for a 2001 Ski Nautique hull, which is just shy of 19'. Yes, it is too big for your 'Cuda, which really needs an older #3, meant for a 17-18' hull. |

Are the insides of the fenders open or closed off? 5 or 6 lug wheels?

Close, but not quite... see my post above. I believe brakes were standard in '88, and yours doesnt have them. Ive definitely seen some '87's without brakes. First year for the 2001 delux may have been mid-83, but all trailers were like that starting in '84. I believe CC may have gone from 5-lug 14" rims to 6-lug 15" wheels in '86.
Most of my #2's and #3's are from the '68-80 vintage and have the lower bow stop. Our '79 #4 has the same type of stop as yours. |

That would make your blue trailer somewhere in the 1983.5-1985 range.
That white trailer is a #3 from the late 60's or early 70's... so exactly what you need for your Cuda. |

Jbear drug the #3 up from Orlando this summer to help him out. Too bad Uncle Todd didn't need a #3 trailer as Lanier is an hour north and Jonathan could get the the boat on its proper trailer.

Tim, somebody towed that trailer from somewhere and someone else needs another trailer from somewhere else.
Tim, did I get that right? |
