Marine Grade Plywood needed

I am needing Okoume 9mm plywood for my Dunphy x-55,I did purchase some plywood from Boulter plywood. After Chris form Boulter told me how far superior there plywood was over any other in the states and that he could get it shipped out within 48 hours I decided to get it ordered (Jan 8TH!) He then overcharged my Credit card by $100.00 and did not get it shipped out until the 13th. What ever no big deal, The plywood arrived the 23rd!
upon un banding the plywood there was some water stains and some marks on the center of one of the boards (in between the sheets of plywood)When I called Chris about this he Stated that it must have happened in transit!He also started to get pretty hot when I asked him about the marks in in between the sheets of ply ( He says why would I send out bad material? I said because some one in person to pick it up would pass on that sheet and want another!) I have never seen when you have two sheets of plywood and banded together, if one is stained would not both be stained? Also The one sheet that has the worse watermarks is bleached out like it had been sitting on top of the stack for some time in the light and the grain is badly raised. Chris wanted me to send pictures! I sent him the pictures knowing that to see the grain would be a little hard but you can see the stains and the bleached out wood. So Chris tells me to send it ALL back and will not send me out one sheet because of the cost of shipping. So after a sleepless night I email Chris and tell him I will pay for another sheet but not shipping, He agreed and I thought all was well! BUT When I call him today He says he is busy Shipping other Customers materials and will get to it when he can! So I went Above Chris's Head and thought by talking to his Father (Fred) I would get some where.. Wrong again! Now he is hot and bothered and tell me that Chris and Helper spent an hour and a half going threw the stack and they do not have any good plywood with no water marks!! I guess it did not happen in transit just lies and very poor customer service! If any one knows Where I can get some help please respond!

Nothing like buying as far away as possible to guaranty a problem. At this point nothing would make me happier then just sending all of it back . But in reality its probably not possible.

What are you using it for? Is it a base for something else or will it be on display? I found you can buy regular plywood, not "marine", and coat it with a fiberglas resin and it will last longer than marine grade plywood with varnish. The resin will make it stronger, too.

Agree, but not with all. 95% of most wood glues are water proof. Is it worth $70/sheet more to get marine grade plywood? I would argue not, IF you know what you are doing woodworking wise. You can work it, treat it and seal regular plywood for much, much less. The only thing you are not guaranteed are the voids.

Yes worth the extra $$$ you can't see what's between the two outer sheets.Water will migrant thought the sheet.Can't afford to do it right can't afford to do it again.Now I'm starting to sound like Pete!

Hey Pete, I thought you would have chimed in earlier! I have been practicing on some 1/8" Baltic birch getting about a 3/4" glue joint or scraf. the scraf is much stronger that the rest of the panel and holds up when bent in half the plywood busts up and the glue joint holds up well! what would you use in place of the okoume?? I know we discussed this A while back when you told me a Craig that we should use Meranti. However The Meranti is not flexable. I remember You said that you had the Plywood made for your X-55, I was going to ask you about that and what was it made from? Please any help would be great!
