Sun deck actuator

   I can only get my sun deck actuator on my 92 Excel to go down once in a while. I've opened up the dash where to switch is. If iI give power to the load side of the switch it goes down every time. Replace the switch you might say?  Did that....same issue.  Any thoughts?

	It sounds like you are applying 12V from a different circuit. Have you tried just using a short test wire with alligator clips to jump across (skip) the switch? That should show you if something in the circuit prior to the switch is causing the problem.

	Use a voltmeter (multimeter set to test 12 volts) to see what kind of voltage you are getting to the input side of the switch. It could be a low voltage problem.

	92 was the first year of the actuator. They had problems from the start. Wiring to the actuator motor was too small and many suffered early on. To help, add a relay and a heavy gauge wire to the actuator from the battery....similar to a horn circuit. Newer actuator motors and heavier gauge wires made them more reliable.

	I have determined that it was a switch under the sun deck that got gooped up from the rubber stop disentigrating. The "stop switch" cuts power so the actuator doesn't pull the screws out of the sun deck. The rubber stopper was melting into the switch causing it to stick occasionally. So in the process I messed with the dtdp switch at the helm and can't remember how exactly the wiring is supposed to go. There is a blue interrupt wire to cut power when the sun deck is all the way down. Two ground wires. A constant hot and two orange wires that appear to send power to the actuator to tell it to go up or down. does anyone have the correct wiring for the dash switch?
