Justin, Regarding power, you are probably thinking about some of the racing hulls Ventnor built. The typical model for the public had flat head 6's. Ventnor liked the Gray Marines. In rare cases, they would put in twins. |

Justin, You may already know this, don't know if you got that photo from its source page or floating around the internet, but if you didn't know it, that particular boat is a Glen-L Zip. You and you dad could whip one of those together from Glen-L plans as a practice boat before taking on the Tahoe. I recognized the Zip because they (including that one in particular, which was very well done) caught my eye before. I like their lines. I was wondering if it could be modified to accommodate an inboard. |

That is a Hurricane right? That boat is one of my favorite restorations ever. Just the fact that he did that, makes me lose my mind. I wish one day I could do some magic to an old boat like he did. |

Thinking of old times, my family used to vacation at Cushman's Sea Island Lodge on Sea Gull Lake and my dad's friend had a place nearby on Saganaga Lake in Minnesota's Boundary Waters Canoe Area (BWCA) when I was a kid. We always brought the runabout to ski behind. It's been a while since that was a thing.

Not gonna lie, I joined when I was 9 and had little knowledge. It wasn't this account it was some random name I came up with and I never posted because I was scared keith would ban me from the site for not being a certain age . I stopped going on for a few years, then I created this account and now at school all I do is talk to my motor-head buddies about boats, cars, trucks, dirt bikes, quads, anything with an engine I love. I know this getting of topic but Dirt bikes probably interest me the most. A lot of my family has hondas. But I started looking at Yamaha TTR-125's. They're beauty's. Back on topic, what appeals to me the most is just the sound of the small/big block engines. I want my dads boat to cheerish with my kids how amazing boats are!

Your profile states you're in Illinois. The Blackhawk chapter has two shows per year. Look for the dates on the site. The Geneva lakes in the fall would be a good one to attend. I hope you can make it and if so, I'll look for you.

Pete, seeing that red and white boat reminded me of this boat.  It belongs to the guy I bought my Tique from. It was in his garage at the time. He also had a vintage hydroplane. He is very active with the New Hampshire Antique Boat Museum and good friends with the Vintage Race Boat Shop. They have regattas/shows in Wolfeboro NH every other year. I never made it up, though I wish I had, especially since it features racing and high performance boats. |

Larry, Just in case you don't know but certainly for others as well, your friends boat is a Racing Runabout. I believe Chris built just over 200 of them available in a red & white or a blue & white. Chris also planked them in 3/8" instead of the typical 1/2" to make them lighter in weight. They got about 45 MPH out of the 158 HP Hercules/Chris engine. |

LOL. well thanks glad that thread is still being enjoyed, it is due for an update in a few weeks but if you really want to see the Hurricane in person it will be in Green lake this year, running and giving boat rides. Zeus
