Thank you.
Anyone replaced the carpet under the bow on an open bow nautique? I know that area was carpeted at factory before the top deck was installed so room is limited to work under there.... If it's been done with any success by anyone I would appriciate any advice on whether or not it's doable? |

I used the applicator shown above with the 6700 carpet adhesive to cover my floor panels last year with great results. The trick with the 6700 is following the directions to a T, especially the drying 100% before contacting any form of water. Let it dry for a few days at the right tempiture and it should be fine.

Great that's what I wanted to hear. Personal experience with a specific product. I will plan on using the 6700 product that AAM196 is suggesting.

Thomas, what type of carpet are you installing? Are you keeping it original?

Yes I'm in middle of a full restoration on my 02 SAN. Goal is to keep it as original as possible for the most part. I purchased many carpet samples from several different vendors and settled on the "smoke Grey" 14oz carpet from Christine's marine as it provided the best match color wise. It's a little lighter weight than the 22oz original Capet but the color is my main concern because I won't be recaps ting under the bow seats or under the helm as that will be just too difficult I think to do as far as I can tell.

Also keep all your carpet pieces running in the same direction. If one piece gets turned around, it shows and you probably won't be happy.

Ya for sure I noticed that doing some mock ups with the sample carpet.
Especially with the seat bases where you have to make sharpe bends with the carpet. Thanks for tip that's one I would forget when tracing my old carpet to make the cuts. |

Thomas, Get enough carpet to at least replace what's under the helm. After replacing the easy areas, you'll be a pro at it and the area under the helm will go real easy. |

Ok I'd like to recarpet everything including under the bow. As I start ripping out the old carpet I will get a good idea of what's possible. I will plan on doing the underside of the helm then thanks! I will post some pictures here of my project as I go along.

Thanks for the info, Thomas! I was looking at the carpet on NautiqueParts.com but it seems a little lighter than the shade in my boat, so I was curious.
Where do you boat near Salinas? I lived in Monterey for a couple of years but didn't take my boat at the time. |

Nacimento i would consider my local lake. Don Pedro over in San Joaquin valley is my favorite lake but only make it over there 2-3 times a year due to travel distance.

I'm working on it. I'm in middle of a full boat restoration so I get caught up in other projects and bounce around from task to task. I got the carpet rough cut to shape for the floor and side walls but before I fit them I decided I would do all the gel coat work first so I don't sling polish and sanding dust all over the new carpet. So won't get to install the carpet for a couple weeks till gel coat is done. It's not letting me attach pictures here it says Iv "already uploaded a file with that name". I have a thread going at planet nautique forum called "2002 SANTE resto project" under the General nautique discussion tab. My carpet pics are posted there and more to come as I start installing it.

Not sure why maybe it's because I do all this forum stuff from my phone but whenever I go to upload a picture on here it's says Iv already uploaded a file with that name. Then I have to go to my account settings and delete any pictures I have uploaded but then it seems that all the pics in my threads here on CCF get deleted also....

Damn, looking above at my post a few replays up there is a picture of the new carpet rolled out on my driveway. That pic used to be a picture of all the carpet removed from my boat. Now since I tried to upload some new carpet pics the one that I did get loaded went up to that old post and replaced the original picture there. Is anyone else seeing that or is it just me and my phone is screwed up?
