On my 2003 216 air nautique the low oil pressure alarm goes off as soon as I start the engine. Then after a few seconds it's gone. The boat is totally fine after that. Is the brief time the alarm is on a indicator of something worse? What should I do about it?

Jim,
Sounds like the alarm is doing it's job. Before the engine runs for those couple of seconds, there isn't any oil pressure. Welcome to CCfan. |

We've taken it to the boat mechanic and he has ran it and has replaced the oil pressure valve . No codes appeared on the computer. He told us to run it and watch it? Anybody else have a similar problem and how did you fix it?

The pressure relief valve? Wow, that's a big job. |

The oil pressure valve that's on the side of the engine is the thing he replaced. It was an easy thing to to do.

Now that's easier. That's the pressure sender and not the pressure valve. What was the pressure gauge telling you? |

The pressure gauge took a couple seconds to read normal and after that it was fine. Since we changed it, it only flashes once. Its alarm goes off for a much shorter period of time.
