The CEL is coming on in my 97 gt-40.   I knew it was either the temp switch or the pressure switch.   I unhooked the oil pressure sender(the bigger one, with the blue wire),    The CEL didn't come back on and the oil pressure gauge stopped working.   

I should have disconnected the oil pressure switch though. Why did the CEL stop lighting when I unhooked the wrong sensor?   


My thoughts,
1.   I need a new switch
2.   could the problem stem from running shell rotella T as opposed to straight 40w(lower oil pressures)
3. oil level might be a bit high

Did I read somewhere there is a lower pressure switch that may better suit my situation since Im running multi viscosity oil now?

I suggest installing a pressure gauge to get the true oil pressure.

I doubt it's the oil type. Many have run the rotella including myself without issue.

The oil pressure gauge sender and the CEL switch are 2 separate entities on the GT40. It is actually has a different acronym SLOW
