Indeed. Works like a charm. (Over here we call them 'caramel discs'). |

The 3m eraser wheel was in the top 10 things i ever spent money on, 53 bucks, more than 1/2 of it left. Worked as advertised. Thanks for reccomending it.
Before i bought tho i tried to whack it with some 1000 grit on the grinder as seen port side right below the teak foot step. Looks like the gel will come back. These spider cracks( just on the rear deck and rear sides under the decals) are the only damage the boat has, (don't know if that is an 01 flaw or what) very minor dock rash will buff out, even the bottom is in great shape. Saving all the blue scheme pictures for later ! upload |

If that's the timing pointer and the orange paint which became visible while cleaning it up and is on 6, i got that at 600 rpm, it was off, retarded. If there was a rear sight that would be great but i think it's there. Fresh gas i believe is what made the difference. The multimeter is working but also jumping up/down but i can adjustvthe idle screw so it bounces 590-620 for timing and 630-660 on idle. Cause ? The idle air screws are 2 turns but who knows ! No big change observed The vacuum gauge is hooked to the port on the spacer and there is new rubber caps on the carb. The vac swings up/down in the late ign timing area but like mentioned i believe it's at 6 @600 When i removed the vac hose from the port 1/2 ounce of gas came out, it didn't do that on the 79, cause ?. There are 2 videos to upload and come back to edit this post with some notes/observations A while back stated goals were to send engine and trans off to appropriate shop for rebuild/freshen up but let's not get crazy $$$$. I think it's a good engine & trans package to do exactly that, (have to find shop for both in NE Ohio) It's going to sit so winterize and cyl oil/fog has to be on point even tho next fall it can be run and repeated or turned over and fog repeated. Will follow directions on fogging oil can and open to other methods to help ensure it stays a good engine. Gallon and a half of non meth got a whole can of b12 and 3 ounces of stabil dumped in. Drain carb line and pump or ???? Drain block, exhaust, dump hoses, impellor already out, fill with 50/50 fog cap exhaust outlets. How about the mufflers, they are plastic, pretty impressed how much quieter than no mufflers on 79. Thank you |

It is hard to see because it was filmed looking at the tablet screen, for sure the timing light blinks every time 1 fires and the 6 is on point @ 600 +/- https://youtu.be/aS_S5w_59dE?si=Eix22UzxQXcX3vky |

The timing mark at 6 degrees BTDC means that somebody timed it per the PCM manual.
A Prestolite distributor with a clip down cap which was what came on your 84 had an initial spec of 6 The later screwdown cap distributor had an initial spec of 10 degrees BTDC. Lots of similarity between the 2, but the advance springs, flyweights and advance limiter were slightly different Link to manual see page 9 |

Thanks keno,
It does have a clip down prestolite distributor. There is a ssticker on the port valve cover that's just legible with timing, timing rpm, idle rpm max rpm and other info as well. I turned the engine by wrench until the timing marks came up and started sanding, soon as the orange popped thru i stopped and thought maybe it was factory. Hopefully petronix still carries the parts to replace the electronic ignition for that style. There was what i thought to be quite a bit of water in that tank and wonder if the locking cap leaks, or what could it be ? (I don't know why but every link you post doesn't open for me) some do on other members threads but not mine ! |

First time i clicked on the link it took a whild to load. The past week I have had a few days when CCF was pretty slow at loading web pages? seems OK today. I have pretty good internet connection with 100 Mbps. Maybe Dan has slower download speed or a browser checker bloccking it???

I've has quite a few times in the last few weeks or so where if CCF was any faster loading, it might be able to be called slow.
Any other website loaded just fine but CCF took forever I'd call it a problem on CCF's end |
