Horrible Service

I'm not saying they are all junk. I'm just saying back in the day, when you had a Caddy, you had "arrived". A Cadillac used to really be something special, a name synonymous with "top of the line, the pinnacle of luxury". 80's flops such as the Cimmaron and the bustleback trunk design, as well as all of the other general issues with 80's American cars really watered down the brand. Culturally a Cadillac just doesn't hold the same esteem in the public eye these days.

...as do 90s, 00s, American or "Foreign". They're all hunks of metal.

87BFN, IMO that era of Towncar was an awesome car in general.

I don't know any songs that mention Lexus or Infiniti.

To date, the most comfortable car I been a passenger in was a 1984 Oldsmobile Delta 88. There's something to be said about the older American cars and their comfort. The seats were like couches. The other thing I recall was hitting bumpy roads and the bounce the suspension had. Those days are gone forever.

Look back through my previous post & tell me where I stated that my import was BETTER THAN american. I was stating facts about how it runs & at most i compared it asthetically to an american car of the time.

Yeah & that 25-33 mpg that my Nissan gets is really killing me right now...so much so that i can't afford to take my boat...uhh...oh wait I haven't missed a weekend yet

Does anyone remember the episode of Married with Children when Al goes to buy a new car?

Al saved money in a shoebox that he hid from Peg by burying it in the backyard. He finally had enough for a new car so he�s standing in the showroom of a dealership and he tells Bud to watch and learn as he negotiates�

The salesman comes over and Al says�
Al: �The sticker says $15,000, but how much is it REALLY?
Salesman: �$15,000�
Al: �Ok� But I want special wheels�
Salesman: �Nope�
Al: �Ok� Then I want you to throw in the undercoating.�
Salesman: �Nope�
Al: �Ok� But I�m not leaving here without one of those cool wooden gear shift knobs!�
Salesman (Leaning over to his co-worker): �Hey, Vince� How much for one of those plastic wooden gear shift knobs?�
Vince: �25 cents�
Salesman (To Al): I�ll give it to you for 50 bucks.�
Al: �Deal Sucker!�

It is then that Bud opens the shoebox to find $200� and a red hair!

Car Buying Tips

After my Aztek was totaled I was looking for tips on car buying and found that site. Scroll down and you�ll see there are several more chapters on the various aspects of car buying. Like me, some of it you might already know. However, there is also some helpful info there that I wouldn�t have known otherwise.

Using the info from the site helped me to get over $5K off my Honda Pilot and I only paid a few hundred to have them add the towing package to it. (They originally wanted to charge me $1,300 for the towing package!)

I know, I know� Towing with a Honda Pilot! Let�s not open that can of worms again!

Great points Eric!! It makes me want to puke every time I hear the "Foreign is Better BS".

To each his own on what they choose, for me it will always be Buy American whenever I can, it gives me a feeling of patriotism and a sense of support thy neighbor.

Man I love these threads. I am a Ford guy all the way. Three Broncos...all over 200k. Am right now driving my fourth F-150. Last one I just traded had over 180k. Had a few problems with it when I traded but it still looked good. Mrs jbear is driving a '93 Mustang convertable. Its her second GT 5.0...she likes to go fast. She has had a Taurus, EXP, and a Ranger pick-up. Every one of my 6 Nautiques have had a Ford motor. My7 brother worked at the Cleveland Casting Plant for 40 years...his brother-in-law is still there are quite a few friends. And that counts too.

Hey reic...if you ever wanna test your ride on a trip to Florida, I'll save ya the cost of a motel and show ya a good time too.

Im glad you didn't think so Eric because it wasnt intended as that. I just saw your one post about the "red dot" & i didn't want this thread deteriorating into one of those import v. domestic battles ive seen on here numerous times.

My biggest problem is when people put words in my mouth, that's when I'll get fired up, & then when multiple people do the same thing, that's when i considered saying screw this site. Because everyone's entitled to their opinions, and just because I'm just 22 doesn't mean im not allowed to have an opinion on the world, whether wrong or right I'm entitled to my opinion. And if i didnt have an opinion and was apathetic to all of this, you guys would be saying im just another punk kid who doesn't care about anything but himself.
