Steve,
By wheel do you mean propeller? Sorry, not sure if I've heard it called that before but via process of elimination that's what I came up with Come down anytime in the spring, we will be kickin it early next year!!! We're very excited about the boat. The only issue we see is that it's not red...we've always loved red and black (like yours and our 90) Dad has a beautiful 95 silverado ext cab with a red topper and only 45k miles on it to match the 90... The only vehicle matching this new boat is my new explorer my fiance and I own. :) Ironically enough...it matches all too well. hehe |

I think this talk calls a spring barefoot clinic. Let me know when and I'll be up with the SNOB and a footin suit!

I'm in for the barefoot clinic!
Mike, sorry about that yes, "propellers" often get called "wheels" in racing circles. I follow those circles with my uncle who drove these inboards for years: |

Awesome! Steve, have you ever been to the Muscatine Boat show? I've been trying to go for 2 years now lol. I WILL be there this year with the Ski Tique. Sounds like its a fun event, they might even have the race boats back this year!

I have not, would love to go, 62Wood has been trying to get me to bring the 64 down, but its so tough to get away with the kids. If I had known they had Hydro's coming... The above boat was my Uncle's 5.0l, was points champion in the early 90's, he has raced all the classes including Unlimited where he piloted an old Miss Budweiser Hull with twin Rolls Royce engines.
Mike sorry for the thread jack! |

BTW, I forgot to mention, your vehicle and your folks boat is going to look AWESOME. Maybe you can talk your wife and your folks to trading the truck and 90 for the Explorer??? Worth a shot...

Steve, you are a wheeler and dealer....
Funny thing is, dad's stuff is mine, and my stuff is Dad's...the only thing different would be who's making the payment. We live 2 miles away, both store stuff at my grandmas...always using each others tools and vehicles...so it's a win win for both of us haha |

Wait a minute, maybe the Valant's and the Kutsch's should swap Sports, your Sport would look good behind my tan Suburban... (Then I would have to do the negotiating with MY wife!) |

Nope it's a 5.0 litre that he also ran in the 6.0 litre class. These days he is racing COR (Classic Outboard Racing) classes. Running an intimidator tunnel hull with 2.5 Mercs. They don't want to go faster then 85 mph, but hey he is 75 years old, these days. They run out your way down in Southern CA, a lot in San Diego. Also he helps set up and races in the Parker 300 Enduro at he Blue Water Resort and Casino. |

I think the 5.0's replaced the old 280- class, not positive. I have a friend who is now 80 and still climbs into his 2.5 liter on occasion. Typically his Typically his son drives, but sometimes he just can't resist. BKH |

Mike when you pick it up could you take some pictures of your trailer for me?
I picked up a 98 Sport with the same colour scheme as yours. It also has a tandem axle DHM trailer. I will need to make the trailer comply with Australian design rules. Can you get pictures of tow hitch and the swing away draw bar, side step attachment to trailer and guards. I have always liked that colour scheme. Have been thinking about upgrading my SUV may have to get a black one now. Trouble is with our hot dry summers black cars make good ovens. |

Hey Mark,
I finally figured out why the bow stop on the new trailer has a pin in the bottom for it to pivot forward. It only goes forward off the nose of the boat about 2 feet and then sits there. Couldn't figure out why that would do that... THEN we put the cover on the boat. I believe that is for allowing room between the nose of the boat and bow stop to enable someone to put the cover over the nose of the boat. Worked PERFECTLY. Anyone else have anything like this? -Mike |

So did you just dip it in? Or did you actually take it for a ride?

Oh we took it for a ride!!! Runs like a dang dream...had no Tach or Speedo...but the motor ran beautifully. Love how it handles too, not too awful for a larger boat. My buddy had a 95 sport that felt bigger when driving...not sure why though.
EDIT: possibly because of the TSC? |

I need to check out your keel roller some time. Need to add one to the snob trailer but I was thinking I would but the 6" roller on it instead of a V-roller like you have. Thought it would give me a wider base and maybe not mark up the hull.

Mike, another question about the DHM trailer under your 2000 Sport. Could you check if the guards and steps are bolted or welded to the main trailer frame.

Hey Lewy, I'll look through some pics to see if I can't come up with an answer for you. Right now, the boat is not easily accessible to run and look at real quick. Waiting for Spring!!!!!!!!!

Alright, I think everything you ask of is welded to one another. Not many bolts on that thing at all...
