Yeah...That Boat is Red Hot, I think red and yellow are the two colors that stand out the best on the water...great job, skicat!

Greg, the boat looks great! I love the white scoops- I have the same look going on my green Skier (which Ive found is a '72). You dont have metal emblems to put on the side? Any plans for a white water line stripe? You gotta take those rubber flappers off!
Question- is your rope clearance bar (the triangle piece) stright up and down when viewed from the side? Mine has a backward cant to it- Im not sure if its supposed to be like that or if its bent. |

Pat, good to know about the rope bar- thanks! I assume yours is tubular just like Skicat's? Mine is and I was worried it wasnt original- I remember our '68 being rounded flat stock. If Im not mistaken, the metal emblems were used on at least some (if not all) '71's. Thats what we're putting on the yellow/red Skier eventually since I have a set. My green '72 has the white and black plastic emblems. |

Tim,
My rope bar is round alum. tubing. I will have to look if it tilts back, but there is not much room between it & the stern light pole. I did have to work on the flat ends where it mounts to the boat since they were bent a little. I don't know if it is the original or not, but it looks it to me. No metal emblems for this one. They are pretty hard to come by. It had the plastic ones when I got it, so I just got some new ones from Whitelake. |

Just for Reid, I thought I would update this project. I am waiting on my money tree to start blooming again so I can get the interior done, but it is about ready other than that. Hopefully before long I can finally get it in the water.

Feels good to be a positive influence. I said I loved that boat back in 1982 when Greg first started working on it and posted pictures. And the love has only grown.

I know how you feel Reid. You get to see pics of a great looking boat that has been started on & then it sort of just falls off the planet for a while. Now where are the updated pics of that yellow Nautique I like so well? I guess you are going to get out of it by saying someone else is doing it for you right!!

Yellow SN.........? Oh yeah, that was posted so long ago the picts were black and white. But you are right in that the boat is now Jerry's, and that's the honest truth. And he moves about as quick on his projects as I do.

About damn time we got an update, Greg... but it looks terrific! Im going to forward this thread to Nick to inspire him to get back to his Skier. Im guessing thats a #3 trailer judging by how close the bunks are to the edge? Get us some interior/floor shots... Im curious how you finished the floor. Carpet? Vinyl?

I didn't take any of the interior since there is nothing really there. I did go with gray carpet though. I won't use the word restore (To keep things legit with Pete), but save from the junk pile & use it is more like it.

Ha, you dont know the meaning of "saved from the landfill" until youve seen our junk Skier, Greg. Did I mention that the floors had been replaced by a previous owner- with particle board? We're deviating from original a bit as well... our carpet will be red.
Tom, cool boat- whats the story? It looks like a Martinique to me- and its not yellow, its "Inca Gold". Reid's is bright yellow. |

Tim,
Mine wasn't much better than particle board. I wanted to do red, but the rest of my family said it would be too much red. I still disagree, but the gray looks ok too. |

Tim,I dont want to hijack Cats thread. It is supposedly a 71 SN with updated graphics and possibly a newer windshield.Thats what I was told.
Its probably one of those deals to good to be true. |

Did I mention that the particle board only had one layer of glass (on the top- none on the bottom)? The carpet was the only thing holding it together!
Too much red... is that possible? What color are you doing for the seats? I think we're doing cream (to match the deck) with red pinstriping. Tom, Id love to hear/see more about that boat. Youre probably right about it being a SN- though a shot of the dash would confirm. Definitely a Martinique windshield. Not a fan of the graphics they added, but the rest is pretty sweet. It looks clean! |

Greg, what an amazing job on bringing that boat back! It looks great.
Tim, that is a depressing picture. That's about how our Barracuda looked. It's got the same weird inlet for the raw water. Why do you suppose they did that? |

Bruce, youre telling me! Its stripped down to the bare hull now- should be ready for stringersin the spring. We HAVE to get the thing in the water this year. I should shoot you an email about that trailer, by the way.
Both of my Skiers have the dual water inlets. The only thing I can figure is that the factory wanted to make sure the engine would get enough water... they must not have trusted the RWP that much! |

A possibile explanation on the water inlets may be that it is a carry over from the late 60's SN's and the dual impeller set up like my 318 has. Just a thought.
