Boy I couldn't even commit to getting there yet John, just sounds like the right direction to travel in late september to me.

We'll be in your neck of the woods for a drive by labor day weekend, hooking up with BJ to pick up an engine he's holding for me for the Hurricane. Maybe a quick hello if we can fit it in. I'll give you a call later this week.

I wanted to go to Norris for the long Labor Day weekend...Patti "suggested" tonight that we go over to Vero Beach and stay at a Bed and Breakfast. Guess what I am doing. But we won't be there all weekend (I hope) so I'll talk to later this week in hopes that we can meet up. I think BJ is only about a hour or so from us...never been there.

I still hope you make it to GA too....I think you said "Dana said to hook it up" meaning the boat I'd think. Gonna be a cool time.

Thanks greg, it does flow pretty nicely. I'll update that thread in a few weeks with some pictures of it's new power plant and the rest of the missing parts that have finally been secured, I should be 99% now. The clock is ticking to flip time, can't wait to start taking it apart.

We got our confirmation for the campsite today in the mail. They gave us good ole #49.

Alan...since you have been to this campground before, and seem very familiar with it, I have a few questions:

Will they let you put more than one tent up on each campsite (if needed)?

Also, does everybody pull their boats out each evening, or do we leave them in the water? If left in the water, do they have docks close by, or tie them up on shore?

For some of us campers that haven't camped in a LOOOONG time, what does everybody do for cooking? Bring a cooler of pre-prepared meals, or fire up the Coleman stoves....OR....go to a nearby restaurant (yeah, I know....thats not exactly roughing it)? I am guessing the latter may not be an option.

Is there electricity to hook the coffee makers up to? Please....for god sake, say there is!!!!

Thanks!

Dave

Dave,

"the rules" are one family unit or 4 adults per site. I'm not sure about the number of tents but I've seen plenty in the past with 2 on a site. Maybe we've just had good luck in the past but we've never been hassled once about anything when camping there so I'd say pitch it and let them ask you to move it or just pay for the additional tent. My guess is no problem especially since we now own every site in that section, no neighbors to complain about us.

Every one in the past has pulled boats at night but we are camped in an area that has a path down to the lake, there is a small dock to tie to, there are always boats beached and tied to the trees overnight. I won't be leaving in over night but we picked those sites in case anyone wants to get off the water for a few hours without pulling their boat. There is plenty of room to park your boat at your site.

For food, there is a breakfast/lunch joint right at the boat launch. Most of us seem to pack a lunch while boating though. There are several campers that will have grills and each site has a pit with grill top so bring some charcoal. I would imagine we'll end up congregating at one or 2 sites and hang out after skiing, thats what usually happens and we all share a few grills. Ours will be available and I'm sure there will be others.

All sites have electric for the required cafination/detox remedies.

There is a small camp store at the ramp and I beleive they are still open on weekends in September so you can restock on ice. Also for firewood, as soon as you go through the s turn in town there is a white house on the right side of the road about 1/2 mile before the park entrance, you can get your firewood there. The DNR frowns on transporting firewood so if you do bring some in just make sure you burn it all. We just buy a couple of bundles when we get there. $5 a bundle.

I hate to bring this up but do not trust the weather. A good example of this was this year all of us were keeping track of the weather forecast for the GL weekend. Looked great up until the actual Thursday!!!!

Have fun guys no matter what the weather is like. I wish I could be there.

BTW, I finally got the approval for taking a couple of extra no pay personal days on both sides of the Labor day weekend. I need the break from work but more important I need to go up north and put the boats to bed for the winter. Yes, it's a sad time of the year. BTW, I don't need anyone from the south (John??) working me over about the short season!! When I retire up there, the boats will come out in October!!

Don't worry about the weather, we just spent 2 days at Clinton. High temp on the boat was 67, in the water it was 95. Even sunday morning after we skied in 60 degree cloud cover we stayed in the water for a few hours to stay warm. The place is paradise.

Damn guys.... I get bummed evertime there is a new post on this thread and I force myself to not read it.... You guys are going to have so much fun... I'm going to try and take in a Sunday jaunt down there on either the 20 or 27 if weather permits... Getting the 211 wet just once more after labor day is becoming a huge priority... Water temps in the 80's is unreal !!!

Anybody up for going back again will likely see us there... Alan, I'll consult with you since you seemed to take up a part time residence with the bounder on where to go..

Gary,

Looks like there will be lot's of wake boats so it would be cool if we had another ski boat in the mix.

Finally official...I'll be coming down as well, with my brother tagging along. We'll be there late friday night, heading out sunday am. Not bringing the boat, just throwing a tent in the trunk and showing up. Looking forward to seeing you all there.

Mojo, If you come down after the reunion, I can almost guarantee that Renee and I can make it one day. Harvest is real late so I can most likely wiggle out for a day on the lake. Love to see the new ride!

Not bringing the boat due to the on-going tranny troubles? Well quess what very important boat part me and Eddie blew up on the '80 this weekend while footin'.
Our phone conversation ended kinda abuptly last week...so we need to continue it.
