A barefoot run sounds good even to us old folks. Knees not what they used to be but the desire still there. Just a hint to age: I was in the 100 to join the AWSA Barefoot club when the minimum time was 1 minute, certified by Al Crockett, if anyone remember him.

Just a reminder again guys. Either all who are going to attend with BOATS, send me an E-Mail mtmabe@northstate.net so I can send you the Form to fill out about your Boat. Keep it brief, but when you purchased it and what you have done to it. Restore, stringers up, or just new upholstery,or 1 seat recovered, etc. Engine, trailer mods, etc.
Because this will help out on your scoring by the Judges. If an all OE boat, then it's judged accordingly. A boat that has been restored- then judged by that. I'm trying to get Keith to maybe put that Form in the Misc. Reference Section. It is in Microsoft Form application, and wouldn't you know it, but it won't open in mine because I think I have a virus in there. So either type something up, maybe a pic or two of your boat, then put it in a clear folder or get it Laminated. Thanks Guys! |

Greetings folks! Just officially joined today, but have read CCF for quite a while. I have a house at White Lake NC (since 1965) and sincerely hope to join the party on weekend of April 29. Had the second Ski Nautique on White Lake; mine is 1973, first was 1970 belonging to the Dr. Gale Johnson family from Dunn NC. I still have mine, mostly original with the exception of some duct tape on the seats and a Southwind ski pole we installed to do ski shows for what was then the Blueberry Festival (now called Water Festival). It is a tangerine solid color hull (only one like it I have ever known that existed at White Lake) with ivory deck; no script down the side. It is a dead ringer for the Correct Craft cut sheet for early model Ski Nautiques posted here on CCF. Carl and Dianne are the (4th) owners we have known at White Lake Marina and are exceptional folks! I'llkeep looking for updates on any scheduled events or cruise arounds that are planned. Glad to be aboard!! Spot (graham white)

Graham,
Welcome to CCfan. We're glad you signed on. No matter what condition your boat is in, make sure you get some pictures submitted for the diary section. It sounds like you could also include some intersting text as well!
Are you sure about the above? With White Lake Marine "claiming" to be the oldest CC dealer, I'm surprised there's not a earlier SN. Keep in mind they started producing them in 1961. |

Being new to the forum I stand corrected on the oldest Correct Craft dealer if there is another. My family has lived in same house same address on White Lake NC since late 1965... might've been a Nautique that visited, but we bought the second one that "lived" on the lake. Dr. Johnson's family sold their 1970 some time ago, but it's been on CCF for sale since then. As for White Lake Marina being the oldest...not really sure. I've known it for ~45 years here, so hats off to any dealer selling Correct Crafts for longer. Spot (graham white)

Graham,
Thanks for confirming the 1970 SN being the oldest. I guess White lake was busy selling other boats! |

Pete, I wonder if the SN would've been the big draw in the 60s and early 70s for the average family vs. say a Southwind or other more "family friendly" model. Since they sold alot of different models at that time, I'm wondering if maybe it was too hardcore of a ski machine vs. other available CCs. |

Steve, If your reasoning is correct, then it must have something to do with the geographical location. We had plenty of the SN's as well as all the other models back then. Plenty of wood as well. It's really a shame 99% of those hulls are long gone! |

Spot,
I grew up sking on a 1972 Blue Hull and White Deck Correct Craft Martinque with the Holman Moody package on White Lake. However, I am not sure if it was new when he purchased it. I always assumed that he purchased it new from White Lake Marine. My Uncle pass away about 10 years ago, but my Aunt still has a second home on White Lake. They are Snowden and Virginia Singletary. Aunt Virginia is in her late 80's now. Unfortunately, he traded the 72 for a 76 Martinque while I was off in college. I ure do wish that I could of gotten a chance to purchase his 72 HM Martinque. He traded it to White Lake Marine for a used 76 because the starter was bad. This was about 1983. It will be great to meet you this spring at the event. Donald |

Don't remember Al Crocket, but I sure do remember the AWSA Barefoot Club. The blue triangle patch with the yellow feet and writing. And you could get the little round (yellow with red??) badge with how many minutes your run was. You got a couple years on me Jackie, but similar vintage. I sent in for my patch/membership in 1972. Still gettin her done. Wish I still had that patch, but its long gone. I do still have an original unused AWSA decal from back then tho, the red and white ships wheel like on the sides of the 70s boat. I kept the one, the other was on the back window of my 65 Mustang (car) I had back then. |

Steve,
I've been watching from the sidelines. I had surgery on my neck about 10 days ago. My Dad was right - "Thats going to hurt when you get older". They removed 2 discs and put in synthetic discs & 2 titainium plates. I feel good but I'll be out of work for another month or so. I'm planing on coming down Saturday at the crack and staying to mid-day Sunday ,I need to get a room reserved soon.. I think the talk will ramp up after St.Johns. I'm laying low till the Pee-Dee "Run to the Sun" car show in Myrtle Beach March 17-21. It's really a GREAT car show and the kick off of spring. If you guys get a chance it's worth seeing. |

To show my boat there would need to be a considerable amount of elbow grease and love.....Guess I need to find a way to stay in town and get it cleaned up........I still will meet anyone who wants to take a run between 6:30 and 8:00

The moment you see the Buy WoW Gold, I believe you would think of the Buy World of Warcraft Gold. Yes , it is not hard for you to combine MapleStory Mesos with the Maple Story NX Cash Card. Now many people are interested in the game. Would you like to play it? And how much do you know about Runescape Gold? Just go!

Mr. Steve
Still waiting on the 'Clinics' so to speak. Townsend said he's working on that. As much 'work' as you have been doing, you can give a clinic on Booms, windshield remove and replacement, etc., Ok, on the cookout, what else needs to be divided up? In other words, what else do we need so they can get 'assigned' to someone? |
