once again my hats off to Boat US for making my life a little easier, it was worth a shot and and they covered a rotted keel on an 1988 Regal!!!! it was almost a 5 digit repair, the owner is happier than i am.
he contacted his company on his own cause i told him there wasnt a chance in hell that they would cover rot. of coarse i had to tell the owner to let me do the talking to the appraiser, no really though they covered the boat start to finish with a 150.00 deductible yes, this is useful information if your deciding on an insurance company, to date i have yet to have a problem with Boat US |

Rotted keel? That's amazing. What did they attribute the cause to?
How do you like Progressive? They'll do a policy for stated value on an old Correct Craft for $140 for $4,000. All over the phone. My regular insurance company won;t insure them. |

water,
bustin ya Riley, it is a trailored boat and had about a 2" crack on the bottem, but i attributed the crack to the rotted keel and the insurance guy attributed the rot because of the crack. here's the ones I hate.....Progressive, State Farm, Allstate first off on the bodyshop side they dictate the hourly rates which i believe right now is $38.50 per hour, they set the rates. on the boat side i set my rates.....I dont care what anyone thinks, I try to fk them when i can. do yourself a favor and call Boat US or Marine underwriters they are a pleasure to work with. the big companies are big companies because of the business practices. |

Eric, care to disclose his yearly premium? The deductable sounds super low if the insurance is reasonable.

The trouble I found with Boats US was that they wanted a marine survey to insure mine all because it was an inboard. I/O's or outboards don't need one. When I called them they could not tell me why an inboard needed one and an I/O didn't. I had them in the past with no trouble,I figured they just didn't need my money this time.

Gary, did they want you to pay for the survey? I don't know what's in a survey...is any of it intrusive?
I tacked mine on to the home ins. $300 per year and I stated the value without being questioned. |

Greg at the time I was busy getting ready for my 1st GL trip and did not have the time for messing around.I think they gave me a list of surveyors and I assumed I had to pay.I have no idea what they do, I just know I was ticked that an I/O didn't need one plus the fact I just wanted liability. Maybe by now they have changed.
