This is a direct quote from "Mr Smoke-n-mirrors" taken from the newswire..........
When times are tough, you tighten your belts," Obama said, according to a White House transcript of his appearance Tuesday at a high school in Nashua, N.H. "You don't go buying a boat when you can barely pay your mortgage," Obama said. "You don't blow a bunch of cash on Vegas when you're trying to save for college. You prioritize. You make tough choices." ......... this is WAR...Now he's attacking BOATS!!! |

Yeah, no kidding. That spending spree over the last eight years really killed us. Where the heck were all the fiscal conservatives when that was happening..praying?

I work for the federal gov - and I'm in the same "boat" trouble everyone else is. I had a 7hr surgery on my rt. ankle & foot almost 2 years ago and still owe 2 Drs. $1100 - My wife has had 6 knee surgeries on one knee and had it replaced twice. I pay my bills and WILL pay off these medical bills. She needs surgery on the other knee and I have a torn rotator cuff in my left shoulder but we can't aford the Dr bills.

Andy,
Sounds like "working for the government" and "running the government" are two different things?!? Im not trying to be smart here, but do you think the "boys club" at the top are having the same financial problems as us? I myself, doubt it. I guessing that most of us on this site will pay our bills... problem is as of now there isnt enough income to do those "extras". We make priorities with what we do have. Somehow ,insurance, heat, electricity, food, etc keep winning out. And Pat, I like your interpretation of his statement! |

That pic always makes me laugh. Nancy Pelosi doesn't seem to have a problem trying to spend her way out of the recession. That woman(or whatever she is) needs to go.... Mike |

The true conservatives were complaining about medicare part D and the first bail out along with bushes other "Big Tent" spending. Still PBO has raised the debt way more in 2 years than in all of bushes 8. In fact congress sets the budget (democratically controlled then and now), and PBO voted for every spending increase while in the senate. Quit blaming bush, he is history, it is PBO and his majority that are responsible. If things were improving would you credit bush? |

I am not conservative but I saw a bumper sticker that really made me laugh today.
"I'll keep my freedom guns and money- You can keep the Change" Seriously why are we the richest developed nation without a nationalized health care system? COBRA for our family of 5 while my wife switched jobs with no downtime was $1300!!!!! Just to be insured for one month! Who cares about wars with terrorists if you can die right here at home because you get sick and cannot afford health care! If I see a terrorist I will field dress him like a deer, but if I got H1N1 during the month we had no insurance, I could be dead. The prisoners at guantanamo get better health care than your average American. When was the last time YOU had a physical? Corporations, greed, and corruption keep any real change from happening in this country. Not George Bush and not Barack Obama. |

Phil, I am not backing bush, I think I even criticized his spending but if his deficit was bad at 800 billion I have two think two years at 1.3 trillion each is reeeaaaallllyyyy bad. I just believe in giving credit where it is due.

Keegan, A recent harvard study suggested that 45,000 die in the us due to a lack of insurance. Using their math, 465,000 died with insurance. hmmmmm.

Nancy Pelosi - I've got to take a blood pressure pill. Her husband owns the largest tuna co. in the world. 70% of the people in American Somoa work for him. The Misses gave American Somoa $300,000,000.00(3 hundred million dollors) to stimulate the Islands economy and refused to raise American Somoa's minimum wage. So say's Glen Beck. Evil, evil, evil woman!

I thought one of the tuna companies pulled out of Samoa, didnt want to pay minimum wage, thats are breeding grounds for big football players. i personally cant stand Pelosi, she does need to go,
I still have the thoughts of what if Mcain made it, he has war in his blood and would he have been gung-ho in Iraq and kept the spending spree going? I do like the Gitmo bay thing, you can tortue without breaking the law, sometimes you need that.. Really though how many of you are going to go out and buy a new boat this year, or have a Vegas trip planned? I would have to say 1%, so to me it was an intelligent statement, pay off your damn double wide before you plop down that 70k on a new boat, get back to the basics and the rest will follow, buy necessity items to sustaine, if you cant afford dont buy it |

Eric, Obamma's a millionaire. A boat to him is a Hinckley. We have a lot of boat builders in Maine trying to survive this economy. I bet they were as PO'd about his statement as much as the people from Las Vegas were.
Great picture Mike. I know a few Anybody But Bush people that actually do miss him. |

Another 4 years of Bush wouldn't have been any worse than what we have now. Obama needs to chill and stay out of the lime light for a while.

oops thought this was the bassnautique site.
I am still holding it for you...but,are you not hearing what our great leader is saying(no time to buy a boat)? I am sure your just like the rest of us in this country who are too irresponsible to manage our own finances....glad someone realizes it. Ok...here is the plan...I will hold the boat for you (I know you must have spent way too much already in Vegas)....and you can buy it when Obama says it's ok. But...because we are all so stupid,I will sell it to you anyway....when you loose your home,I have a spare bedroom for you and Pam...that is if I still have my house! We still need to go to vegas and I have not bought another boat this year....so things could be a little iffy. What the Hell, lets wing it! |

Sounds good to me Gary! I'll see about getting a permission slip from the prez... heck, maybe I can get a stimulus check sent directly to you for it?!?
When it comes to boats, I do kinda operate like the government.... you can take my house and my car (leave me a truck to pull the boat) BUT dont screw with my boats... |
