The transmission on my 1986 SN (351/1:1) has a decent leak through the point where the shift lever goes into the transmission case- I have never done any transmission work so this is my question?
How easy/difficult is it to remove the shift lever shaft (or whatever it is called) and replace the seal at this location? |

4804H
Sounds like the "O" ring that has failed. The O ring's factory part number is 4804H. You might get away with just replacing it (1/2 banana job),* but if it failed there is probably a reason for the failure, like pitting of the seal surfaces, etc. * See p. 24 of this: http://www.correctcraftfan.com/Downloads/Velvet_Service_Manual.pdf |
