Very smooth ski , intermediate to advanced level , I have had several of these and love them

HO marketed that ski as it's recreational, traditionally shaped ski, just below competition abilities. More foregiving than a comp ski, but still able to cut aggressively, and run the buoys at longer line lenghts, and/or slower speeds.

They took it off the market for a while, but brought it back due to its popularity, and relatively low cost (about $300 bucks new with bindings).

They do make a 70" version which might be better suited for you height.

HO Sports was actually founded in 1981. The
HO stands for Herb Obrien, who also started
Obrien waterskis in 1966, when he was still
a teenager. Herb did a little time in jail
in between companies.

Yes, I have visited ski-it-again and find most people are exceptionally proud of their skis on that site. I passed on the Mach 1.

You can Call Carbonworx 1-866-ski-jump or 1.720.685.0455 and see if Boyd has a blem 68.5 outlaw (that is not to small of a ski for your size). I have skied on every ski in the built since my first HO Mach 1 (1982) and this new OUTLAW is by far the most incredible ski I have ever skied.

I read an interview with Herb O a while back.
He acknowleded the vacation behind bars, but I don't think they ever brought out what he actually went to jail for.

The rumors I've read all revolve around drugs, but vary from possession and use, to embezzlement of funds to facilitate a deal.
Anyway, a mistake made by a young man. He's been very successful in the 25 years since, is still a phenomenal skier, is credited with creating modern wakeboarding, and has led a pretty incredible life up in Washington.

I was intrigued by the Herb O'Brien story....here is what I found....sounds like an episode of Miami Vice.

So I guess HO does stand for 'hollowed out'!!!   

Back on point...I picked up a Connelly F3 blem from Overton's. After tweaking the binding and fin positions it is really a great ski, and it only cost me about $300. I think it comes in a 68.   

Good stuff...keep it coming. I have a list of four skiis with potential...the F3 sounds good.

I agree with BKH on the CDX. I know of at least 5 guys that use and love it. And like I said before I like the HO stuff. Has a nice aroma to it when you take it outa the box. Maybe thats why I don't know where my keys are half the time BKH....jbear

Getting back into skiing a little after a few years on the wakeboard. Skied two different skis today.

Connely Concept, 68" This is my ski, hadn't used it in a couple of years because I got too fat. Lost a few lbs so I broke it out.
Forgotten how much I enjoy this ski. Not lightning fast like the new carbon skis, but edges very well, very stable, and doesn't have a mind of its own.

KD Evolution 70". This is my buddy's ski. He's in his 60s now but still skis very well. Mike Syderhoud picked this out for him. It is about an inch or so wider than a standard slalom, but is very fast. You need to stay on edge. If you get lazy it will take off on its own. Really handled well. Liked the bindings as well. I believe KD renamed the ski this year.

The CDX-1 is a fantastic ski for anyone that is intermediate and above. It is very smooth and forgiving, like the Mach-1 was for years, but allows you take generate more speed coming out of your turns. It is a ski that can take you to the next level, yet forgiving enough that you don't have to be perfect. The CDX from @1999 and newer are all very good, and are readily available on ski-it-again, or new from Wiley's. Give it a chance, I know that you will like it. Also the Animal high wraps are second to none!

I ski on a phantom, which is pretty aggresive, but I have skied the CDX numerous times, and many of my ski partners ride the CDX also, I enjoy the CDX as much as my own ski, and find it even better than the new HO's that are out this year.
