    Posted: July-09-2012 at 9:17pm
So I was out skiing this weekend and once I got done the second or third run I realized that the ski pole has started to pull away from the floor. It's a 1980 ski Tique, the stringers are solid. Trying to see if anyone has had this happen to them before and is it jst as simple as replacing the portion of floor an the piece under the floor and reglassing this section.
Any help would be greatly appriciated.

Thanks
Rich

I have had no issues with my 77 Tique. Has the glassed in socket at the keel broken loose? Is the bolt holding the pylon into the socket still there?

Well I found my issue. The Pylon is loose because the floor boards around that area are rotted out. So I guess it's time to start figuring out where I'm gonna start and exactly how much I'm gonna need to take out.
If you have any suggestions it would be great. The boat runs like a top too. Just a bad time of the season to have to deal with this. But it is what it is. She'll be back in the water soon.

Just patch it for the summer, Take it down to the stringers in the fall.

Anyone have a fix for fixing a bolt that's loose, so the pylon can move up and down a little bit.

What bolt and why do you want the pylon to move up and down?

I think he is saying its loose so the pylon is free to move. Which is what he is trying to stop, I imagine. Slightly bigger bolt possibly.

Pete

I just went outside and was looking at the piece that is glassed in the hull where the pylon sits in. The only thing is this screw that your talking about. There is no screw that attaches to the pylon. Am I missing something. 1980 Ski Tique?

Thanks Rich

Rich,
If you do not have a bolt going through the keel socket to retain the pylon then it's only your floor. As you mentioned, you have some floor work and most likely a stringer job ahead of you.

Well finally had a chance to start pulling up the floor to evaluate the flooring. Took some pictures back I can't load them onto here for some reason.
Does anyone know how to do this.

Thanks

I usually put all of my pictures for a topic in one folder on my computer.

You have to cut them down often times, they can be no wider than 500 pixels. You can use microsoft paint, Paint.net, photobucket, or you can email them to yourself. All of those will cut them down if need be.

Then, on the thread, don't use quick reply, use Post Reply, with the little arrow on it. This will give you the option of uploading pictures. Once you upload, it will automatically put the link on there and your picture will show when you hit Post Reply.

Go to "post reply" and not "quick reply". Click on the treeicon with the up arrow. A browse window will come up that will allow you to select from your computer. They should be resized to 800 x 600 to fit nicely to the sites screen size.

Well finally had a chance to start pulling up the floor to evaluate the flooring. Found alot of wet areas unders the seats and around the pylon. Took some pictures I think it may be time to just go ahead and do that stringer job I was thinking I had to do. Maybe I'm getting ahead of myself. I just figure if I'm gonna be here already and the stringer are getting soft, Why not just be done with it.Take a look at the pictures and let me know what you guys think.

Thanks
Rich

Rich,
Yup, I'd say you need to go ahead as planned and do the stringers. Even if the wood looks good, the water is in it and there's no way of getting it out. I've mentioned it before that it's like putting a wet sponge in a couple of zip lock bags. They never dry out and will go moldy!!

Thats what I figured Pete. I've been reading alot of the stringer jobs on here. But I haven't found any ski tique stringer jobs post. Do you know of any on CC or any other site off hand?

Thanks
Rich

Rich,
Just follow the basics of other stringer jobs. A SN close to the same year would be best. The only difference will be some dimensions but, you are going to need them anyway. When you open it up, just start getting every measurement you can think of.

BTW, honestly, there isn't any other web site for our older CC's.
