Boat starting make a little "rattle" sound at idle but in gear. Mark Schneider of PCM lives nearby so I had him listen to it and he immediately said that it was the damper plate. Also mentioned that other than the nuisance rattle it won't expedite other component failure.
Replaced the damper plate in my last boat, but the vdrive setup is more intimidating. Anyone on here done a DIY damper on a fairly modern vdrive? Thinking I'm going to put up with the noise this summer and then replace the damper in the off season. Any tips or tricks involved with swapping a vdrive damper? |
