    Posted: September-14-2007 at 4:41pm
This OEM starter was just pulled from a 1990 Ski Nautique with 215 hours on it. It bench tests good at AutoZone, but may need to be rebuilt.

Had an issue with the starter continuing to run when key was turned off and didn't want to spend a lot of time diagnosing the issue. So, I replaced the starter, relay, and battery.

$30 with free UPS Ground shipping to Continental US addresses. This starter is for a left hand rotation engine.

I stand corrected. It is for a left hand (standard) rotation engine.

You got me all excited. I thought I'd sold the old starter before my wife would have a chance to see it and ask, "What are you going to do with that old boat part?"

Ha, no such luck. Is it the original '90 starter? Looks like it has the silver PCM paint on it.

Yes, it is the original starter, Tim. How much would it cost to rebuild, if it even needs rebuilding?

$40-$65 to rebuild...I'd keep it for a spare, starters get a hard life in ski boats.

I'd keep it for a spare except for the fact that I bought a new PM starter recently and the wiring is different. It probably makes more sense for someone else to use it as a spare.

Sounds good, Joe. Yes, it is for a PCM Ford 351 LH rotation engine. I just sent you a PayPal request with more details.

Money sent via PayPal. No hurry on the shipping. Mine is working fine but I'm trying to pick up a stash of spare parts this winter.

BTW... I have an 86 Indmar 351(LH). But I imagine it's the same. If not I'm sure I can sell it again. No worries.

Thanks again.
