battery recomendations

well you need a non-deep cycle battery version of the voyager or the optima,   Dekka suppose to be decent, heard others like interstate batteries too.

I'm parcial to Delco's mainly because I used to work for them but the battery business is now owned by Johnson controls and GM is out of the battery business, except for lithium ion and nickle metal hydried (sp) battery's

You won't go wrong with ether the red top, yellow top or the marine blue top. All the optimas due to their design can handle lots of pounding and vibration. The red top is recommended for off road so it sure will handle the abuse of marine service. I'm running a red top in my Tique without any problems. The yellow is a cross between starting and deep cycle so if you are filling sacs, it's not a bad choice. Yes, the blue tops are a deep cycle and should be used for such but are also listed as a dual purpose. The blue top does have the stud terminals as well as the lugs. Confusing isn't it!!

If you don't need the dual connections (stud and lug) that's on the marine blue top and you are using it primarily for starting (you'll probably have the engine running when filling sacs) then I'd go with the red top.

well, in the end i cheaped out and got a everstart maxx marine from walmart. 875 CA's. I figured since i'm planning on a new boat next year it wasn't worth to spend the extra cash.

so i picked up my boat from storage and threw the new battery in it. she fired up pretty quick after her long beauty rest. but she was ticking for a while until the oil got up there then she quieted down. the valves were probably ticking for 20 seconds or so... i took a few hot laps around my lake and took my 7 month old on his first boat ride. boat ran perfect as i expected. for some reason i always hold my breath when i go to fire her up for the first time of the season. but after she starts, i'm reassured again that a correct winterization pays off.

Deep cycle batteries do not have high amp delivery capability, so they do not work well for starting a V8 engine. They are good fro trolling motors & stereos, however.

Are you putting the blue or red top in the truck?
