Nice Roger
But...
I think I'm gonna stick with my nice Ford V8, I just love the sound of that engine...

BTW, how's your boat coming on?

Kris I think your right too, I do like the idea of diesel but that turbo one has got to come in around $20,000 then there is this problem with all that low end power, I'm no expert on props or how much the prop shaft can take but I'm guessing a 1 inch shaft with a taper is not the one with the pitch you would run on the prop.
Then you have the gearbox/drive if that could take it too, if not more work for Eric.

As for my tub shall be back on it more now finished all my diggers and dumper truck rebuilds will post something I am trying that you may use on your boat when the time comes the guys will soon tell me if its rubbish idea.

But you may have seen on a post I have the upholstery sorted out, got the idea off here

UK, remember, the HP is absorbed at the prop...in theory you could put 10,000 hp in front of these same props as the 351"s use, and nothing will change. when you start changing the diameter and pitches is when you get into a gray area, but these boats could easily except an 1.250 shaft. there are many transmissions that can handle these engines, in fact a 71c, Borg Warner, as long as you dont go crazy on the D and P of the prop.
with this engine you would see a substantual increase in economy, but with the same prop you wouldnt see performance gains, maybe a better hole shot lol

Eric, thanks for sharing your knowledge, as you only mention Ford I take it GM is just too powerful.
If that Banks engine is as good as it looks Diesel Ski boats would be hard to beat.

ha, i disconected myself and have never seen that video, that boat is one of the reasons Im in business for myself, he did mention on the lake Erie run and i remember saying it to him except in my words "this mter fr is going to break in half" I always got bumped for bigger names which was fine with me cause i got free helicopter rides. but its in ink on the toledo to buffalo run. i can remember one time the exhaust pipes were cracked and we were scheduled to run at 7:00 that morning. I found a guy to weld them in St. Petersburg at 10:00 that night, we decided to tip a few...a few, we went to some sht hole and welded these stainless pipes up eliminating the flex where they were cracked, i got in at 4:30 am, and at 5:30 the owner is calling me to clean the sea strainer. its 36 nylock nuts that are only accessible with a 1/4 ratchet. he was screaming at me because i couldnt find 6" stainless flex tube at midnight. im undoing these nuts and he is screaming.
I looked at him and i repeat...f you and th fin horse you rode in on, also doing this in front of the Cat execs.
that leveled the playing field and he never screamed at me again.
among all this i was running his service department. do i like boats? when i get paid to fix them lol
