You'll have to keep an eye out on ebay,hard to find but they are out there.There were at least 4 different ones in the '60s

That probably is the one with the slots in each spoke. I do not know what that era looks like then.

Nice run down, Gary. Ive also seen a handful of these, which seemed to be used more on the Ski Nautiques and larger boats in the mid-late 60's.
The 3 spoke white with the chrome overlay and fake woodgrain underneath is definitely the most common, at least on the 67-71 boats. Some Mustangs and Barracudas (especially the SS) got the woodgrain one that you have as an upgrade. All of them can be tough to find! |

Excellent research. I would think that with that many options for wheels from that era that they would pop up more often. You have certainly put me on a better path to find what I need. Thanks for the work.

Does anyone know of a good puller to remove one of these older plastic wheels? I picked up a puller kit at NAPPA, but it's not exactly what I want. I think I should have a disc to put behind the wheel to hook onto rather than just attaching the arms to the edges of the plastic wheel.

Bruce we really had a tough time getting the wheel that I am using off the donor boat. We ended up heating the column and eventually wrestled it off. It also had a plastic housing that will definitely deform if you get too much heat in one place. I would think a 4 prong puller with a metal plate behind the wheel with a little heat would work better than what we did.

Interesting Tim,I have never seen one of those.As for a puller you need something like this Harbor Freight has them too.Then you get a plate,cut a slot in it the width of the steering shaft,drill a couple of holes to put the puller bolts thru and use that to pull against the whole hub of the wheel.

Gary, I've got the puller. I was hoping they came with a plate, but it appears that is a custom item. Where's a good place to get one of those, a machine shop?
