OK, fellows. The 'parts finder' guy needs help. Looking for an OE white-faced VDO temp gauge and fuel gauge. The temp gauge in there now is a replacemnet Faria. The fuel gauge is erratic at times. Cleaned everything, checked grounds, still bounces around. Do all gauges do this?
Also, while on the lake this weekend, noticed a fair amount of water at my feet near the kickboard(cockpit side). The boat has a heater. So maybe a hole in one of the heater hoses or a busted heater core, my thoughts. Hole would have to be in the right place for it to run on decking between the carpet though. Also the bilge hose runs on that side, but it's ok.
Any thoughts? Contacts on getting gauges, keep me in mind.

Marty,being an old guy and an old boat guy,I cannot remember what your gauge looks like. Check here ,I have bought from them before and was happy with their service.If all else fails,call vdo tech support at 800-265-1818 maybe they can help,they were helpful to me.

Marty, Timely post!

I have some of the same issues going on with out 96. Erratic fuel gauge, its not terrible but does bounce around a bit. Mine is also a faria, so if you find one, send me the info!   

As for the water by the feet...here is what I've been battling. I have water at the drivers feet, along the black trim down the driver side and under the back seat. I haven't checked the bilge pump, but I think it's coming from the back as I can see it seep into the bilge under the gas tank when I back just the transom into the water on the trailer. Not sure what this could be?

my fuel gauge is erratic also! but mainly its tank sender related..part of the resistance is missing so less than 1/2 tank I have no more readings...
As for Marty´s leak on the feet..might want to check the speedos tubing..or guages..if broken they leak also to the feet..
A while ago (last year) while trying to solve my non working oil pressure guage I found a site that had VDO gauges in similar models to the ones our boats have..might want to do a search..
I ended up fixing mine..the coil wire was loose and after welding it back again it started woarking...

Marty, your best bet at finding something close is to look at Summit. They carry a line of white faced VDO gauges whose bezels are pretty similar to your originals. The exact gauges are NLA... I pieced together a set for my '90, but it took me several years to find good used and NOS. I still have to swap around a bunch of faces, bodies and bezels. Easily the hardest parts Ive ever had to find.

Chris, your '96 gauges are different- I believe theyre Teleflex. I would imagine theyre easier to find than the VDO's.

As far as the water goes, do some investigating. Like was mentioned, the 2 most likely causes are the heater core and speedos. Also check to see if your bilge pump hose is solid.

It's probably the heater core, those things do rot out.

That's what it is guys. Oh, well, I asked the wife if the boat needed the Heater in it.
She said if it came with the Heater, then put it back on there!
So I guess, I'll be looking for a Heater

I just sat there and looked at that HC-1 HeaterCraft Heater. It is all pop-riveted together.
I went off and left it sitting for about 3 hours. I looked on the internet for prices and thought, It's no good so I'll tear into it. Drilled a few of the pop-rivets out, opened it up, and to my amazement, it looks like an older Ford heater core!It has 3 small pinholes in it when I pressure tested it.
Turned it over and it's stamped 1/15/92--Automotive Heater Core.
So, come Monday, I guess I'll pull the old book out on the Heater Cores, look at the measuremnts and hopefully match it up!
If I get lucky ,I'll post the number for future failures.
Although I did find Ford replacements for 96 and up on the net.Those are like with 3-speed fans, mine is just 1-speed.Sorry about the mess on the shop floor.

Marty, I think you'll find that the information has already been shared... the heatercraft cores should correspond to some sort of Ford- either a van or a Crown Vic if I remember correctly.

Yeap, done did all the digging and my heater is quite different from the replacement cores. It must be first generation or something, hence the HC-1 unit #. The 'newer' cores are taller than my box would accomodate. You have to get the new box or shell with their core ,then you have to get a fan.
