ok... another dumb question im sure....

when I was puting new plugs and wires in I was paying alot of attention to the distributor cap when I was running to boat on the drive way... and that thing is wobbling alot. The boat sounds and runs fine. is this normal? have i done something wrong? obviously i have tightened the two screws for the clamps but its still moving around

Thats not good, it should only move with the engine it is firmly attached to, not relative to it.. if it moves relative to the engine fix or replace immediately.

Best case scenario, the cap isnt seated correctly on the distributor.. many have features that will only line up in one direction so perhaps it is 180 degrees off.. not seating correctly and wobbling as it is hitting the rotor. Or something more nefarious is occuring.

Either is not particularly good because the gear that turns the pump and the distributor doesnt really need any more pressure on it than it already has, . You risk wearing the gear on the cam/dist down which best case scenario means replacing those two items.. worst case gets metal chunks in places they are not meant to be and causes addtional heartache.

Thanks bro!! Funny thing about the bilge is it will be covered up 95% of the time and no one will ever see it.

You have the outside shining like a new penny though. Are you going to replace the rope in the rub rail as well? I see you are a little short in the back. Mine is like that too. I am going to replace mine with black rope, that may look good with those black and gray letters of yours.

yeah Kris, I plan on doing the same as you regaurding the rub rail. The girlfriend and I went a bought a TV the other day so that kinda took the boat fund and sank it. I will get it some thing in the near future tho!

I made the mistake of taking off that bracket in the back to check out the rope condition and couldnt get it to stretch back in no biggie though I wanted to replace that anyway. I did while wet sanding sand that rubber alittle to see if i could get it looking better and it made a big difference.

To be honest when i bought the boat i was thinking i would have to repaint the whole thing (or gel coat whatever you wanna call it) but afterALOT of hours and talks on here that thing came out great!! Im shocked at how the color looks and the way it feels!the only real issue i had was the stubburn glue from the old stickers

Andrew,
We never get tired of pictures. Just keep them coming. It's looking great!

Did I miss you stating what you put on the Teak platform? I hope you won't have problems with the coating?

The teak platform was stripped with the Starbrite cleaner and a power washer then sanded at 80 , 120, 220 sand papers. then brightened with starbright brightener and then I applied about 6 applications of teak oil. used the starbrite stuff till i ran out then used the stuff you can get at home depot... forgot what its called.

not sure what you mean by coating?? do i need a coating?

I know what you mean about the funds!!

I pulled my rope out to bleach it, it had turned black and green and all other kinds of colors. When I put it back in I did not have enough. It is functional for now so It will be fine. It is towards the bottom of a long list that I have to do on the boat.

You are doing awesome, keep it up. I can not wait to see it with the letters.

No, You are OK with the oil. The gloss was so high that I was worried about you using an actual hard coating on it like a poly.

Now that is a compliment to all that hard work you have been putting in, the teak really does look that good.
