1978 Ski Nautique electical issues

Following not working; Bow navigation light,(bulb replaced, will double check the fuse),tachometer, horn. The hour meter, oil pressure,fuel guage and voltmeter all work. Guages are all new Teleflex Amega gauges and were replaced after an engine rebuild. The tachomter has power to it, as the guage has a light that works, it is also hooked up for an 8 cylinder engine. Tach did not work prior to gauge replacement, there has been some monkey business by previous owners to the wiring harness. This is likely the problem, not sure how to start solving the issues.

if you have a spare car battery or possibly a small lawn and garden battery I usually like to start applying the proper juice and ground to each breaker or item to test what is truly working and work backwards. Also a voltmeter would be handy but you will need help most likely as the voltmeter will take up both hands.

also I believe the tach works off the coil so you will want to trace/test that wire.

ya thats especially good with something like the horn, because like me, you bought someone elses junk so who knows what works, maybe the horn is broke, maybe the switch is bad. hotwire to the horn, if the horn honks its good. Move up the chain.

Justin, my junk is older than your junk, and you are more renovated, I am getting there, I did slalom behind the boat last weekend. Pete, thanks for the wiring diagram it will help.   A ton of thanks to Jeff Connors(Connorsons) for fixing my boat for me last week, I will try to post some photos of my boat and describe the skill, kindness, and knowledge, that Jeff has and shared to get my old boat running. The Seperator King needs to change his CCF handle to CCCC, Connors Coldwater Correct Craft, he is better than a dealer in southern Michigan.

Justin, what do you think needs to be done to your engine/boat? Sorry to hear...
