I have a '86 Martinique and need to raise the height of the swim platform. The boat has an LPG conversion and the extra weight in the stern means that the platform is always sitting in the water. The boat lives on a floating mooring and the bottom of the boat is anti-fouled, but the platform is acquiring its own garden. I don't want to antifoul the teak so I need to raise the platform.
Two questions: First how high from the water is the bottom of your platform. Second, is there any structure behind the hull that the platform screws into or could I just drill more holes higher up and use the same bolts? Thanks |

Theres wooden blocks glassed into the inside of the transom that the bolts screw into, Don't know how high up they go, can't get to mine to measure. You would probably be better off drilling two new holes into your bracket and using the same upper mount holes in the hull. I don't think there is much more than an inch or maybe a little more of block above the upper mount holse. Need to get the measurement from someone working on their stringers, or gas tank. The bottom one you could drill a new hole for the mounting bolt inot the hull as the block is at least continuous between the existing bolt holes.

I had thought of that but I need at least a 2 1/2" lift as the water level is at the top of the platform and that may be too much leverage on the bolts.

you could retrofit with removeable swim platform brackets, the just pull the pins and take it inside. Also nice for winter storage.
