I replaced my steering cable and neglected to make note of where the sterling clamp was mounted to the steering support tube near the stern. I pretty much just centered it and made sure I had an equal range from left to center to right on the wheel. I'm not sure if it would matter but since I replaced it, I have a negative pull on the rudder when tracking. Before, could swear I had a little resistance on the wheel but it could just be the bad cable. I'm assuming it would not make a difference but would appreciate confirmation. If it's not, how do I get a little resistance on the wheel without a tunable rudder? Angle grinder?

Brad,
It sounds like you set up the cable adjustment correctly. With a non tune able rudder, the vertical edge is ground to put a load on the rudder in one direction.

Thanks Pete. Probably a dumb question but that would be the leading edge?

I did a search and it appears to be the trailing edge. I'll give it a shot and see if that helps.

Trailing edge for sure. You should be able see where it was ground originally.
