Need info about this boat

I saw this boat at a repair shop . I stopped and talked to the shop owner
He said the engine has low compression and is looking for a 302 or 351 from a newer boat ? He said its a Ford 312 interceptor is there any value in that engine? The owner of the boat thinks its worth 7-8k with the new engine? The overall condition is pretty good but it has non original modifications and I don't know about stringers. Its been sitting outside uncovered since last summer.

Yep 312 or 292 hard to tell as block numbers are the same without taking some parts off see...Joe is right classic boat guys and T bird like these engines.

As Roger said, definitely a Y-block. Having recently purchased a block and then going about sourcing all the parts to rebuild it, Roger would have best idea of what the value of parts would be. I picked up a manifold and two Carter YH carbs as shown in the picture for around $100. Can't offer much more value base info then that.

Engine wise allot of value will be if it’s a 312 or 292 could also be a 272 all had this carb set up only the 256 had one carb.
If you can find a original tag with the hp that would help most had a sticker on top of the inlet manifold.
215 hp = 312
185 hp = 292
170 hp = 272

If it is a 312 block and crank $600 + have good value less for 292 /272
Heads will most are likely 113’s good posted heads, clean set on ebay $ 300 ......G code are worth more.
High lift Rockers sets go for $175+ this will have standard a lot less value.
Complete carb set up with valley pan,2 flame arresters,2 water outlets $650+(some parts are missing in the picture)
Front timing cover $100+
Pan $130+
Good flat side exhaust manifolds $300+
Then if it’s an RR engine cam, gears,starter,ect $300+
   
Also check out the Tranny set up to see if its Dearbo C or VD both have value.   

As with most engines you will get more if sold in parts than in one lump but will take you time.

I like the boat set up would be a shame to brake her up, would make a good run-around that you would not need to worry about to much.
