Engine Cut Out- couldn't restart

Hello All,

After getting the electrical issues fixed on the 73 Ski Nautique, (again, thank you for the assistance) we ran the boat for the first time last weekend. Ran strong for about three hours then we docked and trailered her home . Dropped her in the water again today, ran strong at about 45 MPH for 15 minutes then seemed to bog down, and cut out. No real spits and sputters and it happened very quickly. Started up again and ran fairly strong back towards the dock. When approaching the dock and throttling down it cut out again...and wouldn't restart. Of course it was just in time for the thunder, lightening and torrential downpour to engulf us 75 yards from the dock. Was a long paddle in! Any suggestions on what to look at next? A friend mentioned the water separator? Thought I'd throw this out to the experts . Thanks in advance for your replies!     

Last week a guy was down from St. Augustine going through the boat. He checked all cylinders and they all had good spark then. Boat has electronic ignition. Don't know much about the surrounding Mount Dora waters though I know it's not far from Daytona. Love to get her out of the salt and into some fresh water. Thanks for the reply! Best $11 I ever spent

We only ran fast for about 15 minutes or so. On the week before barely fast at all due to the no wake zones heading south on the inter-coastal towards Ponce Inlet from Daytona. Would that period of time do what you're referring to? Another question I have is how much water is normal to be in the bilge? I know that's a rookie question but I am wondering if I have water coming through the packing around the shaft. The hull looks great   

I am definitely getting more than that. Is that something that I can readily fix myself?

Geez, I'd assume you didn't really run 45 for 15 minutes. I assumed peaked at 45 sometime in a :15 period. Take it easy on the old girl.

They have 90 degree versions as well for the same price, also noids for checking fuel injectors for you guys with FI boats. at 5 bucks a piece you could get 8 and have your own light show as the engine runs.

Not too many places for it to come in as you know Dan. Rudder port,intake thru hull, shaft seal bad from sitting and leaking,unless you just put it in, thru hull transducer if you have one. You could possibly have the boat on the trailer and fill it with water and see where it leaks out.
