If your starter has shims, remove the shims.

You didn't by chance remove/replace the flywheel gear did you?

When people run down to the lake to see what's making that noise, you've succeeded.

I put the fly wheel on that came in the box of parts. I'm really disappointed in my self for not checking when I had the engine on the lift.
