I left another VM at Paramores but this message was to CANCEL. This would have been the Smith familys 11th time and we will sure miss it and all we have come to know. Hopefully later in the year? Prayers for all that this moves past quick and safe.
Also, can anyone explain to me Ross' post about a rotting dock board? Hahaha. Miss you Ross! |

Smith Family officially cancelled and was given a full refund. Impressive and I feel bad as they are feeling the crunch. All the more reason to try and do a "Ruckus Reschedule".
God willing this passes quickly. |

I too had to play phone tag with Parramores and Kinsey did call me back promptly. She said all who paid should have been refunded their money or if you haven't it should be there by today. I checked my account and it was there. I did mention to her that Folks still wanted to have a Ruckus on the River so we may postpone it to Sept or Oct and she said Oct has superb weather so we may do that. You can bet your sweet Bippy that it WON'T be GA/FLA weekend. She also said that if we did move it to October that they would still give us a 10% discount. Hopefully this Corona V thing will run it's course and instead of beginning the ski seson on the river.......we'll end it on the river.
Be safe you guys and keep your social distancing at 28' off or at 100'. At least Gas prices are low to help ease the pain. See ya on the water. |

Good morning hope everybody is well and safe! Today we were planning on hitting the St. Johns River the temperature today is only going to be 89 and the water is 84. I was planning on bringing two newbies and a 97 SN that I worked on for several months. It hadn’t been ran in over four years which turned out to be a challenge but she’s running great now.I would like your thoughts and prayers for my Co Captain Clay Reedy who as a write this taking care of coronavirus patients in Florida hospital. His attitude is the job must get done.! Let’s start planning for next year and make it the best river ruckus ever! Big Wave Dave

I’d HONESTLY avoid Astor all together. The naitives are literally hunting with pitchforks for outsiders to burn at the stake. They think boats caused Coronavirus. I used to follow “Astor word of Mouth” on FB and had to delete the group because they were the most ridiculous over all this.

Nuh uh, my neighborhood is the worst. Mulitple daily warnings on a neighborhood FB page, on how to behave, since obviously we dont hear and see enough of that on TV and every news website. And constant posts about people violating protocols. One of them cracked me up. One lady was griping about people gathering at the beach to which another woman questioned, well how would you know this if you werent one of them? touche. Last weekend there was about a 50 post thread about some old coot in our neighborhood, who has declared himself enforcer of all rules, regulations, policies and his ideas of how to do things, yelling at some kids for fishing (standing to close maybe?) and taking pictures and getting all unglued about it. Its been crazytown here. |

Somewhere I seen a picture along SJ river of a professional made banner hanging off a sea wall saying boaters were the problem.

Y'all should come to TN. Stuff like C-19, tornado's just bring the good out in people. Some people hoarded TP but others were quick to offer you an extra roll. - that is about as ugly as it has gotten.
Now, we do not have spring fed glens and no mangroves, but we have nice people. |

Wait a minute. I must have been drinking to write that. You really really do not want to move to TN. Horrible place (unless you have a ski nautique then c'mon).

Unfortunately my experiences in TN are rough. I like Gatlinburg, we try to take our boys there every other year but that’s obviously a tourist trap. But I’ve spent some time in Allardt/Jamestown Big Fork area. The side I saw was if you combine that documentary “The Whites of West Virginia” then toss that with some of the scenes from “Ozark” with the poppy fields. One time I was driving on possibly rt 28, or some two lane road in the valley of two mountains just coming back from KY heading to Allardt and there was tornado on the mountain side, probably 100 yards from us. Looked like a scene from twister. We had no where to go and I figured as long as I could see the tornado that was better than being in a tornado, so I kept driving that really sweet new 454 dually. Meh I was dumb 19 yo kid. Only time I ever seen a tornado |

Closing these areas of the forest will help to protect staff, the communities we serve, and the resources we all love. As written, the Forest Order is effective until August 1, 2020 or until terminated by an authorized Forest Service official, whichever occurs first. The closure can be rescinded sooner if conditions improve – as we all hope they do.
Below are some of the key points related to Silver Glen Springs Run: The USFS is not the lead agency on the Silver Glen Run closure. They are a partner in cooperative law enforcement strategies in support of FWC and Lake County efforts at meeting FWC EXECUTIVE ORDER NO. 20-08. The governor declared all waters of the state to be a boating-restricted area and interpreted "other navigational hazards" within Section 327.46, F.S., for purposes of this order, to include behavior that may result in mass gatherings or congregations of people susceptible to the spread of COVID-19. The waterway is deemed as serving as an attractive nuisance. The USFS has closed the recreation area surrounding the spring and also is providing a buoy line to assist law enforcement partners because ongoing concentrations of boaters were exceeding the capacity of our partners to patrol and enforce the minimum distancing stipulations and was competing with higher priority needs such as boaters in distress. |

Okay y’all...... Here it is June 6 and we need to set a New date for 2020 SJRR. Thoughts are Sept 17-20th or 24-27th? What do the masses say. This would be a new adventure for sure for all of us as we’ve never been down there in late summer.. I would imagine that late in the game the Glen water temperature would feel most excellent!

Silver glen is open but still social distant I would say earlier date would be best chance to get people Nascar schedule has changed the july 4th race to end of august but may or may not have any fans still for traffic issues or lodging rate hikes. Weather typically good in September. Water still nice and high especially after this weekend!

You guys realize Corona is supposed to flare back up in October right due to upcoming election? They said it will be a problem then so you know they’ll make it a problem. I think to avoid a repeat cancellation I’d shoot for September. Either month is likely to give you best Ruckus weather yet. I don’t know what the water level concerns are, in my 37 years on the river it’s never been low.

Im not non believer. But I do believe media can’t let a good disaster go to waste. Back to statement I’d avoid October just as a hunch. Put the popcorn away guys and carry on.
