Thinking of switching to a Quick Fuels carb and using my Holley as a back up. Looking at M600 and was wondering what others have had to do to make it work. I know someone local to me said they had a braided fuel line made. Just curious so when I do it I want to have everything I need.
Thanks |

The quick fuel is awesome. Johnny Quest walked me through the little details of the swap. Here's the main takeaway:
Be damn vigilant in making sure no foreign material gets up into the float bowls. Make sure your hoses that you cut don't have any leftover material on the edges, etc. Both of us had the unfortunate scenario where the float bowl stuck on the secondary and started to dump fuel down the secondaries. Scary situation. His was a manufacture error.... mine was installer error. Since then I cleaned out the secondary float bowl and it's been perfect. Parts needed: Quick fuel m600 Sierra 18-8115 fuel line to go from fuel pump to carb probably a spacer for the spark arrester. Here's my thread... which actually won't help you that much but you can see it hooked up to a 95 351. http://www.correctcraftfan.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=48109&PN=3&title=1995-pro-boss-pro-tec You may need an adapter fitting to get from your fuel pump to the sierra line. It should really be plug-and-play for the most part. The M-600 is based on the Holley 4160 design, so not much tweaking needed. I would go with a flexible fuel line as it makes the install easier. The QF should be good to go right out of the box. Not much adjustment needed. As noted above, my first QF had a small piece of brass metal shaving that got caught between the secondary needle and seat -- making the fuel to the secondaries float bowl not shut off properly. The fix was super easy as QF sent me a new needle/seat assembly. Great carbs.

Just completed an M600 install on my 87 SN.
-Sierra fuel line PN 18-8115 ($56.61 at wholesale marine) is perfect and a direct fit at the pump and the inlet bowl. USCG approved too! -To maintain an Inlet screen filter like used on the stock Holley, I used Holley PN 26-141 on the M600 bowl inlet. These somewhat “generic” screen filters must be trimmed to fit just right behind the Inlet fitting. -My original flame arrestor fit the M600. No interference with the M600 float adjusters. -Removed the M600 choke ground wire and used the choke ground wire in the original harness. -Had to adjust the front float level and leaned the idle mixtures slightly. |

Again thanks for the info. Did the new carb come with the gasket between carb and intake?

Just installed mine last week. I already had flexible A1-15 fuel line in place. Had to adjust my throttle linkage cable a bit, then set float levels and tweaked the idle screws. I had never installed a large engine carb before and this was surprisingly easy. My boat now starts faster and has a bit more power.
The quick fuel comes with a fuel line adapter installed. I removed this adapter and ran the banjo fitting/bolt that was already in my boat. |
