Hey guys, first post here on the forum! I just bought my first boat, a 2006 SAN210 and it's a little rough around the edges so I have a couple questions for y'all. So the boat doesn't have transom straps and I was wondering if that is a problem? I am assuming it is but can I just buy some ratcheting straps at WalMart and cinch it down right where it hooks to the swim platform? Seems wrong to pull down on the swim platform, though, I am not sure where else to attach them? Here is a pic of the back of the boat for reference:   The bow has some damage as well. I was wondering if I needed to buy a fiberglass repair kit or if a gelcoat repair kit will do the trick. I can't seem to find an answer searching the internet. (Also do I need to replace the bow roller with a softer one?) Here's a pic:  It came with a bimini but it doesn't have matching knobs, it only has 3/4 of the quick release pins, and no bimini bag. I was wondering if it matters what kind of knobs I get or if it just has to be the right diameter and have threads. Can I buy any random bimini bag or should I be looking for one specific to this boat? Here's a screenshot from the below youtube video, looks like it straps to the speakers?  I was also planning on upgrading the quick release pins to something like these if anyone has any experience with them that'd be great to hear:  Also, does anyone have any experience putting up this bimini/taking it down and if so is there a video anywhere? My girlfriend and I have been really struggling with it. Right now we are putting up the front beam while I hold the back and then she screws in the mismatched knobs and then we put up the back with the quick release pins. To take it off we do the opposite and then lay it in the floor of the boat. We are thinking this is completely wrong based on seeing this youtube video where the bimini is up and in a bag: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E6Y-aPjBZsI Maybe we need to put the back up first and then extend it to the front? The middle bar hits the speakers when it tries to fold out, though, so we think we are doing it wrong, or maybe the thing needs to come down on the tower? I'm about 45 minutes from the lake so I was also wondering if it is okay to drive with the bimini up that distance (Either up in a bag or fully extended)? I'd be travelling about 45-55 mph max. Finally, I'm looking to replace these wheel well things. Should I look for Nautique ones or just pull these off and get some anti-slip mats? Welcome to CCfan and enjoy the new ride. Strap it down to the trailer via the platform brackets. There's no problem and many do use the techique.

+1  For gel coat repair Spectrum makes kits but you will have to do your homework as to which one it is. Color might have to be "adjusted" as well to get a perfect match. When you get ready to do it get back to us,we can help walk you through the job. Rollers and Nautiques don't go well together . Post some pictures from the side not so close. Thanks guys, that helps a lot! I'm glad I wasn't missing something about the straps, they really do just attach right there haha. Just gotta go pick some up.
Thanks for the link for the gel coat repair kit! I was just gonna grab a random one from the store; didn't know you could get one with factory colors so I'll definitely grab one of those! I don't have a picture of the side so I'll post one tomorrow. I don't know much about trailers but the bill of sale I have says it's a "Ram-Lin".

Wow they do! I looked through there and only saw the 2 axle non-skid so I kept scrolling. I can't believe i didn't even try clicking it before and now I see they keep their non-skids as a single listing and you choose the option for a single axle. Thanks!!

You need to consider having a profession repair that gel coat damage. Mc Master Car has a lot of things you might be able to incorporate on your Bimini for latches and such. The previous owner of my boat bolted retractable straps to the back of my trailer and I hook to the platform brackets. I have used it for years with no issues.
I store my boat about three miles from the ramp and I never get over 45 MPH. I leave my top up most of the summer. My top has a cloth sticker telling me not to exceed a specific speed. Seems like it is 55 MPH. Last week, I saw a nice I/O boat on the highway that probably had been running over 50 to be on that road and the top came apart on him. It was ugly. Stainless Steel bars might hold up better than aluminum. Towers Bimini Inc, in California ( Danny) has some good top hardware to check out. His tower tops are the best. When I take my boat somewhere, I remove the top. It is a PITA but I remove it. When I install it, I put the front legs of the top on first then the back legs then I reinforce with the middle legs. I too have a tower and speakers that can get in the way. You need to be careful working around the windshield. I am always concerned I will drop a leg down and bust the windshield out. With my speakers, I can't just fold , cover and store it in place. The price I pay for pimping.

Hmm, I was thinking of trying to repair the gel coat myself as there is a good chance I'm gonna do whatever caused it again and don't want to just throw the money away.
Definitely don't want my bimini to tear apart so I may just suck it up and pull down the bimini every time. Also here's a pic of the side of the boat. Don't know if it's needed anymore but here you go. :D  |

Nice. Keep in mind each repair kit only has 2oz in them. The match for mine was actually darker than the boats gel but in my case it was so small a job and under a chine I did not bother to adjust it.

I use rear straps rated at 2,000 Lbs each. I bought these after an accident I was in where both rear straps that were rated for about 1,000 pounds each snapped letting the boat slide forward on the trailer and almost in my back window of the tow car. Use good straps and don't worry!
Since the boat is new to you at the bare minimum I would jack up each tire and make sure the bearings are turning smoothly and your brakes are working. If you find a loose wheel fix it before it strands you. Glad you are having fun with a new toy. And you posted pictures right away, nice work. Mark

Wow that's crazy MrMcD! I'll be sure to get some good straps! Thanks, for the suggestion on how to check the brakes, I was just kind of assuming they were working but I should definitely check that.
