Yuk it up buddy.

Tim is correct that the PSS seal doesn't come with install hardware, but I did find my 6" cutlass bearing. 2 shorter bearings may be as good or better, but that didn't seem right to me?

I also found the parts for this at Lowes. They wouldn't make a clean install though.

Greg, I bought a box of tees like this:

1-1/4" tee on ebay

Then I bought a male 1/2" NPT x 3/8" barb from Mcmaster, along with the fancy colored hose I posted above.

Just in case your kit didnt come with these parts!

I ran it on the hose that feeds the port manifold. Plenty of pressure there. FWIW OJ said the seals don't really even need much, if any, cooling water. They run them on 6000+ RPM race boats with no problems.

I added a stop valve to control the flow of water. Handy for running in the driveway and for ensuring a little backpressure in the line so that the port manifold continues to be well-fed.

yes!!!! fancy, thats my middle name tim I think I may have to get some of that, in red.

I thought he might not notice those things. The block color is fashioned after the later model PCM red valve covers, just kind of reverse color scheme. Yes under the hood is non original but that ok, Its a secret SHHH.

Ha, I figured it probably wasnt a budget issue. I wouldnt worry so much about a little 3/8" hose being non-original, at least not considering the block color and valvecovers.

If you want to be fancy, you can pick up some color matched tubing from http://www.mcmaster.com/#tubing/=gh6r71. Try part number 5648K292.

Its not the money I have five dollars (thats my wounded ego) . I just want to keep things tidy. Also shorter run of hose. I thought if it was more hidden maybe pete wouldnt notice its not original.

The point is moot anyway.

I wouldnt want that tee doing double duty... Having to break out a wrench and switch fittings around defeats the purpose of having the garden hose tee in the first place! Spend the extra $5 and get the extra tee and another 3' of 3/8" hose, it wont break the bank.

right, thats what I thought I was just thinking it would have been more convenient to put it back by the strainer. Then you coudl switch out the npt inlet on it and go from hose operation to ready for the water. Nothing is ever that easy.

You had me curious enough to call Eric and ask... he confirmed that it should be plumbed to the outlet of the RWP (not the inlet) as you want the high pressure side to force water down through the seal and out the shaft log, not pull it in.

Greg, I dont recall what the OJ instructions say. I dont have a good picture of where we installed it either. If youre concerned about it, then I would call OJ directly (1-800-359-9730) and see what they say. They'll probably put Eric Johnson on the line.

We ended up using our own tee, as I bought the kit second hand, and needed a 1-1/8" version instead of a 1". I used the same plastic tee that I use to connect the garden hose to. For a 351w, you would need a 1" barb x 1" barb x female NPT. The female NPT size can be whatever size you need to match the NPT male x 3/8" barb fitting. Probably 1/2" or 3/4". You can get them at Lowes.

Thanks Joe. Tim, I did get the PSS seal because I was also ordering a new cutless(cutlass?). Deep blue had the 6" cutlass and the seal. And yes, it has instructions. It offers 3 locations.

Anyone know where i can get that T joint? Is that 3/8 hose that came with the kit? I have the seal but not the kit with the connector and hose. Any ideas on where to source those parts?

It is probably not super critical but mine is right off the discharge of the pump before it gets to the thermostat housing and is split to the engine/two exhaust manifolds. There it should allow the rest of the factory cooling system to essentially function as intended. IE not more or less water getting to one side or the other?

Greg, did your kit come with instructions? I could have sworn the OJ we put in the BFN had a preference on where it went (high pressure vs. low pressure side of the RWP?). It looks like the PSS system doesnt care where it goes: PSS Installation Instructions

If your kit doesnt have a preference, then just mount it wherever its easily accessible!

I've seen several places to pull this water. The most common seems to be from the 1" hose between the exhaust mani and thermostat. Has anyone decided on the best place? Would using a block drain be better or worse?
