Kind of hard to understand someone's thought process when they don't even practice what they preach. Do as I say, not as I do?

Eric lets talk loyalty and reality. LTV was blowing smoke in Detroit but it faced three problems. The environmentalists (Liberals on your side)forced them to buy technology to get the smoke out of the smoke stack, and being a big business the government had to tax them at some of the highest corporate rates in the world, and the unions had to milk them for every cent of pay and benefits. This raised the price of their steel above their foreign competition. You ask me to buy American, but what did Chrysler and chevy do? LTV being out of business pretty much answers that. They bought Japanese steel. Of course in all there other content they buy American like you want me to do, correct? No maybe 50%. They look at price, quality, and they make the decision that is best for them. So why do they deserve my loyalty? Honda, Toyota,and....were there and are moving more and more here, while our company's were here and are moving more and more there. Why not ask what have you done lately when addressing loyalty? By the way I have a Ford e350 van , a Dodge Dakota and a Chrysler Pacifica in my driveway. Why, because they were the right deal for my family at the time. Whats in your driveway again and what was the reason. What people do reveals a lot more truth than what they say. |

For thousands of years men have felt the irresistible urge to go to sea, and many of them died. Things got better after they invented boats.

I'll give you my list and they were all new, 1984 toyota pu, 1986 chevy camaro, 1988 grand prix, 1990 f150, 1993 Intrepid, 1994 zr2 s-10, 1996 z-71, 1999 jeep wrangler, 2001 f-150, 2004 dodge 1500, because i have a dealers license i drive what i get a deal on, because i look at cars as a tool to get you from a to b, But, i would never ever put money on a new foriegn car. to address my loyalty, i make sure I tag shop first, even down to my tennis shoes, i look for the made in USA label first, even if its a few dollars more, I always make that decision first.
my loyality is to this counntry first. I really think after months of debating, were getting to the root of this countries problem...... I break it down and and think maybe i am just blowing steam, but, really how do we benfit ourselves with sell outs? your selling out because of selfishness. |

HW, i dont fall in love with them.....paid 1500 for the Jetta and cant get myself to sell it, when i do though it will bring 6k, with the dealers license my brother was on that side of the business and does 99% of the buying of cars, what he brings back is what he brings back...drive em and sell em. am i a hypocrit?, probably, like i said i just need to get back and forth. never said i didnt like to make money......

according to your label shopping logic, you would buy a new camry over a new fusion. i should take a photo of the box for my genuine toyota brake pads...made in USA stamped right on the box. i guess the point i've been trying to make is that even though toyota is a japanese owned company, a lot of it's vehicles and parts are made in USA...which is what you claim to care about. would you rather buy a made in Kentucky Camry, or a made in Mexico Fusion?? |

If you decide on the Fusion from Mexico hurry up as the new 2013 Fusion will be built at Flat Rock, Michigan plant. Hey Eric I bought some Eastland shoes yesterday. I did a whole lot of research and they are the best choice for me and my family. Wait a minute, probably just the best choice for me! Made in USA! Thought you would like that. I just hope their content is at least 75% American. |

I'm glad to see them sourcing their parts from the USA. I wish all the manufacturers would do the same. It would be a step in the right direction. |

there is a ratio of content on items, and that all decides how you label the "made in"
I'll take the Fushion anyday, driven at least 5 of them....good car |

MADE IN THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. A manufacturing dollar IS a STRONG dollar. A consuming dollar is a weak dollar. WE HAVE TO GET BACK TO MANUFACTURING. Limit lawers, down size the EPA ect... |

I saw a Volkswagon commercial on Friday night and thought of this damn thread, specifically you eric. Apparently the Motor City Madman sold out too, Stranglehold was playing in the background the whole time.

as a side note japanese guitars are by far better quality than mexicans. The japanese are excellent at copying techniques. In fact fender stopped producing japanese stratocasters in the late ninetees because the quality began to rival their more expensive american made line. They then began pushing their mexican made guitars at half the price. |

I think that's the one. It chronicles the guy growing up and buying several cars. "Is it fast?" he asks everytime, then finally "Is it safe?" with the kid strapped to his chest.
